Sharing Sunday Morning Message from Dr. Cliff Black

Sharing Sunday Morning Message from Dr. Cliff Black

I pray you had a great weekend in spite of the almost unbearable heat index. It’s a beautiful Sunday afternoon!  The sun is shining in a Carolina blue sky; it’s not raining and the air conditioner is working fine!  Now you can hardly beat that, and  its quiet in my home, too! Brad is riding his motorcycle and I am free to write! Just doesn’t get any better than that!!

I’m especially pumped because of the great worship service we shared with our church family this morning. Dr. Cliff Black’s message was over the top, as it usually is every time he speaks.  Dr. Black is a great scholar of God’s Word and leader of his sheep.  Today was no exception! “Faith Works in Love”!   Dr. Black has given me permission to quote him and this is well worth sharing!

FAITH WORKS BY LOVE   Dr. Cliff Black 8/14/2016

Galatians 5:6  “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love “NIV

Don’t miss faith by “failing to walk in love”.  Faith works by loving everyone on your team!  That means people you work with, people you worship with, people in your family and your neighborhood Now, Cliff added, “you don’t have to like them…you just have to love them!”  I think it even means the politicians that have taken over our televisions, too.  Boy, am I glad he added that one!  Some of the people around you that you have to love….are sinners!!   WOW!  What about that, Cliff?  Well, he had that covered, too!

Proverbs10:12 “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.” NIV

1 Peter 4:8Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” NIV

“Think of it! This real, genuine love of God will cover, hide and put out of sight more sins than you can even name.” For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16NJKV

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1:9

The most important part; Cliff added, was “Love is a choice that each of us have to make.” Yes, it’s a deliberate choice!  Christian love is done by choice! “We choose to love everybody!”

It really isn’t that difficult when we realize that “it is a love that is motivated by our will and implemented by action and conduct.” “ Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” Philippians 2:5 NLJV

“How do we learn to love? Listen carefully, love is a gift that you are given the moment you are saved.” “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” 1 John 4:16 NKJV

“Love is also an achievement to be claimed” Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:7 NKJV

Dr. Cliff Black finished on this high note, “The ground of our love is the Person of Jesus Christ living in us and desiring to live through us!!”

I have to reiterate right here, that nothing I write here comes from an inspiration or dream given to me!! No, I write from studying other people’s works.  Sometimes, it’s something I have read, sometimes it’s what I have heard on American Family Radio, (which I listen to a lot); and sometimes, its sermons or bible study notes.  I am known as the “note taker”.    I think it comes from having a poor memory but I do like to write and taking notes seems to help me remember better.

I hope you were able to soak up the Good News from our sermon this morning at Mountain Grove Church.  I love our pastor and appreciate that he has allowed me to share with you!  You can listen to the entire message on their website:  www.mountaingrove.org.
