ELECTION DAY 2016

ELECTION DAY 2016

How do I begin a blog on the eve of the most controversial Presidential Election in my lifetime?  What seems heaviest on my heart?  How do I put it into words?  What does God desire me to focus upon?  All those questions and more are running around in my head and all in many different directions with little rhyme or reason!  If only I was wiser; I would offer hope!  But, there is hope!  Our Heavenly Father is the source of all of our hope!  And He still is in control!  His plan has never changed since He made His covenant with Abraham!

” I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. ” Genesis 17:6 NKJ

“And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.” Genesis 17:16

And He promised to Jacob:  “Also God said to him: “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body. ”  Genesis 35:11

And when God gave Moses the covenant requirements, He included it for future kings:   “When you come to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, and possess it and dwell in it, and say, ‘I will set a king over me like all the nations that are around me,’  you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses;'”  Deuteronomy 17:14-15a  (I would encourage you to turn to Deuteronomy 17 and finish reading from 15 -20.  God was instructing kings  to have a copy of His laws before them and to read them every day.  Now there weren’t copies of the laws for the people at that time, so they had to have the priests read the laws to them!  But, God knew how important it was to be a good king, and it would require God’s laws to be in his hands and ever present on his mind and in his heart!)

But our hope comes from knowing that no matter who is elected as our next President; God’s plan still leads to that marvelous, wonderful  promise we anxiously await in Revelation 19:11-16:  “ Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.  His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.    He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.    And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.   Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.”

May God be with us and may God bless our country tomorrow and all the days until that awesome day!
