Emotional Trailway This Weekend

Emotional Trailway This Weekend

This has been a very busy weekend while experiencing a wide range of emotion! God is so great when He shows us the different emotions He has given us.  He made us in His image: “So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female.” Genesis 1:27.HCSB

This weekend we felt love of family; the sadness of losing a brother-in-law; and the hope of eternity at his Celebration of Life! We stood by as our grieving sister realized her loving husband would no longer be by her side.  We felt sadness and pride as the family members remembered their special moments.   I personally sobbed unashamed as my heart and soul remembered my own son’s funeral, as the Air Force Honor Guard performed the ritual of folding the United States flag!

Our freedom to worship was made very special as we were joined with my brother and sister-in-law and two special friends! Sunday mornings are always full of joy, fun and worship with our church family at Mountain Grove Church and Dr. Cliff Black!  I just have to add right here how much I enjoy our coffee/fellowship with my “Sunday School” girls!   We have our own special service before the preaching even begins!!

After a delicious pancake brunch, our home was filled with laughter as memories and adventures were shared. We enjoyed a downpour outside; the surprise of each thunder bolt and the refreshing smell of rain, as God reassured us He would take care of us in all areas of our life.

Part of the weekend was spent as Brad and his friends visited a special motorcycle friend in the hospital and sadly realized that he may be losing his fight with the dreaded cancer. But, even that was made warm by the knowledge that they would be seeing him again someday as God promised to all His children! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 NKJV

Other emotions this weekend included the excitement we feel as we anticipate the birth of a Great Grandchild in a month; the unexplainable joy that rushes over us as another Great Grandson runs all the way down the hall yelling our names as we walk into their home; and the pride we felt as we listened to our son, and grandsons talk about their work!

Now, Monday morning will find us saying “Goodby” to our family leaving for their home in Virginia and settling once again into our familiar daily routines.  But, God has been here this weekend and all of the emotions and all of the memories are all part of the “Trail Way” He had planned of us.   For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
