Senior Adult Fellowship: Priceless
There is so much to be said about Senior Adult Activities in the church! If your church has an area for senior adults, I would encourage you to check it out! It’s not a deep secret that there are generation gaps in our world! My son recently told me about a chart describing the different generations!
I checked out a few Internet sites on “generation descriptions”; and while they differ a little on descriptions and dates, they look something like this:
- Greatest Generation born between 1910-1924
- Silent Generation ..1925-1945
- Baby Boomers.. 1946-1964
- Generation X.. 1965-1980
- Y Millennium..1981-2000
- Z Post Millennial .. 1996-210
Now, I’m not really sure what you can take from that information, but I can tell you what my experience has taught me! Different generations have different ideas as to what is important to them and how they choose to live!
I say this because I spent Sunday with a group of Senior Adults from our church on a road trip to a dinner theater in Virginia! It was such a wonderful experience! (And the dinner theater was great, too!) But the best part was being with people my age that share the same life values that I feel! Add to that the most important thing we share….our love of Jesus and what our faith means to each of us!
I love to witness small children, youth and young adults that have experienced the saving grace of Jesus! It’s so innocent, so free and so real! I love it! I’m excited for them and anticipate their own experiences as they grow in their faith!
But, when I am with my Seniors, the bond is so strong as we share our valleys and mountain top experiences! It’s such a comfort in knowing they understand and we can help each other whenever one of us needs it!
Yes, sharing time with Senior Christian Adults is priceless!
